I love to be inspired by the world around me. There is always something new that we can embrace. The fact that you took the time to read my share, says a great deal about the type of person you are. You love to be inspired as well. This brings me to believe that you are also willing to grow. Growing to the next level is what keeps you going. I am happy to add value to your day. Author, Eric Butterworth shared some powerful words about the importance of growing. These are words we have come to respect. He said these words beautifully:
“Don’t go through life, grow through life.”
Dan Zadra expounds on Butterworth’s words to include: “Realize that the journey of life is not about being right or pretending you know it all. It is about learning and growing every step of the way.”
Both Butterworth and Zadra are correct, we must take the gift of living and learn through the process. It is up to us to recognize how to grow. In my previous career, I was an Agricultural Science facilitator. I learned a thing or two about growing stuff. Growing a crop or animal provides a wonderful experience. For example, to grow a plant from a seed you would need to have the right conditions These would include temperature, light, water, oxygen, mineral nutrients and support. I do not wish to take up your time explaining these conditions, but I want us to take a closer look at the importance of what is needed for the growth process. All six conditions are needed at different points in the growth process – some more than others – but we get to see a pattern as it relates to growing.
In our daily lives, we too need to have the correct conditions to grow. If this does not exist, then we wither and produce nothing. As we reach for additional success in life we must determine the best conditions for our growth. We must make a conscious effort to evaluate where we are in the journey through life and identify what we need to anchor our roots. Always remember that growing is a process. For us to get to where we want we must start from the beginning and work ourselves upwards. Always focus on the next step!
We don’t change what we are, we change what we think what we are. – Eric Butterworth
You and I are similar in so many ways. We have come to understand the need to grow and best of all we are willing to enjoy the process. Like growing a child, we must be willing to mess-up and figure things out. Get dirty and the occasional boo-boo, but still remember it is all part of the process. If you are ready to grow, then I want you to join me in doing three things today:
- Have fun! Take some time to enjoy what God has blessed you with – life.
- Create a journal of the things you do. Make sure to write it all down. Free your mind.
- Learn something new from the people and experiences you encounter today. Everything changes tomorrow. You live to do it all over again!
…but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen. 2 Peter 3:18
