“The graveyard is the richest place on earth, because it is here that you will find all the hopes and dreams that were never fulfilled, the books that were never written, the songs that were never sung, the inventions that were never shared, the cures that were never discovered, all because someone was too afraid to take that first step, keep with the problem, or determined to carry out their dream.” ~ Les Brown
It is true that most people go through life and never discover their true potential. It either occurs because of how we were cultured, our personal beliefs, fear of the unknown, or physical oppression. It just seems to be one of the most difficult things to do – getting to what we truly desire. We need to be led to our happy place. There is something in all of us telling us that there is more than what we see and do currently, but for some reason, we choose to suppress those things and settle for the next best. The problem does not really rely on not achieving the potential, but it is aligned with how we think it should all fall into place. The beauty about human potential is that it does not have any limits and therefore even when you think you have gotten to the top there is still an opportunity to do more. We get lost in our fairy tale story that we have created in our mind and not having an intentional mindset. Instead of allowing ourselves to dive into discovery and unchartered waters, we get scared when our plans don’t work out the way we expected. Because of defeat we become afraid and refuse to try again. This locks down our potential and we get stuck at the same place for years. We are seldom willing to follow the process to unleash our true potential. No one can give us the answers we need other than what we believe in ourselves. You and I must not give up in our quest to find our happy place. What makes you want to live another day? What brings you joy? We need to find our happy place or else we will go to the grave with it – What then? God has blessed ever human with infinite potential to do the things they so desire. We have a choice. What will we make of it?
I want us to never give up! We must remain relentless in our pursuit of what makes us happy. I can let you know, money will not create the type of happiness I am talking about. Money fits into the realm where we self-actualize to some degree. But, beyond this, we can truly find something that is fulfilling. It is interesting that I have come back to this topic in my daily posts as I find this to be a very important part of personal development. I am realizing things about myself that I never considered before. What I have found is that my own thoughts and those that have been instilled in my mind have created a void for wanting what I desire in life and believe I deserve. I know it might sound a bit repetitive, but I have to say it again – you and I can get and live the life we desire and deserve. Someone once wrote, “One of the greatest enemies of your potential is success.” Can you see yourself beyond success? We get overly excited about gaining success that we forget it’s just a state.
“Don’t be satisfied with your last accomplishment, because there are many accomplishments yet to be perfected. Since you are full of potential, you should not be the same person next year that you are this year. Never accept success as a lifestyle—it is but a phase. Never accept an accomplishment as the end—it is but a mark in the process.” ~ Thesoulfactory.com
You were born for a purpose and you should spend time doing the things that will constantly motivate you in that direction. We should do our utmost best to maximize our potential and not take it to the grave. God wants us to find out who we are in him and through Him, we can determine a better life and never settle. For today’s exercise, I want for you to write down ten (10) things that are uniquely you. What ten things would you use to define who you are? If you can’t find those ten things it means you have work to do to discover who you are and realizing that your potential is infinite. It is then, you will begin to live in your happy place.
Everyone has inside of him a piece of good news. The good news is that you don’t know how great you can be! How much you can love! What you can accomplish! And what your potential is! ~ Anne Frank
